Deuteronomy 7:6
“For you are a holy people, who belong to the LORD your God. Of all the people on earth, the LORD your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.”
Bible Readings
Israel is a powerful country today.
It is a beautiful land that God has blessed.
Most of the Bible stories we are reading, happened in the land of Israel many years ago.

This is a 2 minute movie about Jerusalem. The Bible says that God has made Jerusalem the “center of the world”. Historically, we could say that this is true, and that politics reverberate out from this area.
Ezekial 5:5 “The is what the sovereign LORD says, This is Jerusalem, which I have set in the center of the nations, with countries all around her.”
In 1864 Charles Piazzi Smyth proposed to position the Prime Meridian along Jerusalem and the Great Pyramids. This made sense, because the line would pass over more land in that place than any other place on the planet. The Prime Meridian line was chosen based on another city - Greenwich, due to the use of the ports at the time.

This is a nice documentary showing the divine hand of God on the Jewish people throughout history. Video Length 20:52
History: Israel
God said:
Israel will become a mighty nation. God will give them their own land. All the world will be blessed through them. Those who curse them, will be cursed. Those who bless them will be blessed.
These are promises that God made to His chosen people.
The 12 Tribes of Israel are known as:
Hebrews
Jews or Jewish
Israelites
These names are all the same people group - God’s chosen people in the Bible. Through history, we can see clearly God’s divine hand on this people group!
Today, God’s chosen people live in the land of Israel. They are the ONLY people group alive on planet earth that live in their ancient land, serve the same unchanging God of their ancestors, speak their ancient language, and use their ancient currency. This, and many other facts about this people group is a miracle!
These facts about the nation and people of Israel, were foretold by God and His prophets in our Bible. The many miracles, are fulfillments of the promises that God has spoken.
Recently, on May 14th, 1948 Israel became a nation again - in 1 day!
Isaiah 66:8 “Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem's birth pains begin, her children will be born.”
As we look at God’s Chosen People, Israel has just celebrated it’s 70th Anniversary in May 2018.
For over 2,000 years, they were “scattered” among the nations, as God had said.
They should have lost their land, language, economy, religion & culture - these things left to unfold as they made new lives in a foreign land.
But it didn’t.
It’s a miracle.
It’s God’s Hand.
There is a divine and sovereign God that is revealed through this people group!
The History of Israel is so interesting to me, I could write on about the miracles, and facts for a long time - because there are many. I think why I am so fascinated, is because my best friend, and savior is a Jew.
Jesus was a Jew, this is His culture, and language, and people - through the Jews, all the nations of the earth will be blessed.
Galatians 4:4-7 “But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.
